Education background
I graduated from Northside High School in Warner Robins, Georgia in 2002. I attended Macon State College the following Fall semester. I received my paraprofessional certificate in 2003. I received an Associates degree in education in 2005. I transferred to Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus, Georgia in the Fall of 2005. I received my Bachelor's degree in the Spring of 2007. I went back to Georgia Southwestern and received my Master's in 2009 and my Specialist degree in 2010.
Teaching background
I student taught in the Sumter County School System at Cherokee Elementary, a primary school in Americus, Georgia in the Spring of 2007. I signed a contract with the Sumter County School System at Sarah Cobb Elementary just before graduating in May of 2007. I began my teaching career at Sarah Cobb Elementary School in the Fall of 2007. I worked at this school for five full school years. I moved to the Columbus area in the summer of 2012 and began teaching in the Muscogee County School System. I have taught students in grades K-5 with Profound, Severe, Moderate, and Mild disabilities. I've taught students with severe medical issues for four years. I enjoy teaching and watching my students learn new skills. I'm excited to begin my tenth year of teaching this school year!
Personal Background
I was born to Wayne and Karen Hamilton on November 18, 1983. I was a very sick baby when I was born, but then a doctor discovered that I was born without my thyroid. I was put on medication and my parents began to see a change for the better. Some doctors told my parents that I may be delayed, and I may never be able to live on my own. I survived my school years and I proved doctors wrong by receiving my degree and becoming a teacher. While I was in Americus, I met a great guy through a mutual friend. We began dating in 2010 and have been together ever since. On November 17, 2013, the day before my 30th birthday, my boyfriend proposed to me and I proudly accepted. We got married on September 27, 2014! We are excited to be expecting our first child in September this year. We can't wait to meet our sweet baby girl!
